ARTIST STATEMENT ( French and Greek text below)
My work explores how the landscape and the photographic image hold traces of history. I focus on industrial sites, unfinished developments, scarred terrains, and architectures shaped by rupture and abandonment.
Across different bodies of work, these concerns take specific forms: class hierarchies embedded in stairways and points of access in Stairways / Escaliers; the twilight of American industrialism in American Night; the alienation of labor in Lost Grounds; the tension between land and infrastructure in Land, Water, Concrete; and the visible effects of colonial and economic displacement in Puerto Rico: The Story the Land Tells.
In Spectral Evidence, these questions turn toward the photographic image itself. Rather than focusing on landscape or built space, the work attends to how violence, conflict, and historical residue register within the image. Reflected distortions and damaged surfaces appear not as representations of past events, but as returns — histories that continue to press against the present.

Mon travail explore la manière dont le paysage et l’image photographique conservent les traces de l’histoire. Je m’intéresse aux sites industriels, aux chantiers inachevés, aux terrains marqués par des cicatrices, ainsi qu’aux architectures façonnées par la rupture et l’abandon.
À travers différents ensembles, ces préoccupations prennent des formes spécifiques : les hiérarchies de classe inscrites dans les escaliers et les dispositifs d’accès dans Stairways / Escaliers ; le crépuscule de l’industrialisme américain dans American Night ; l’aliénation du travail dans Lost Grounds ; la tension entre territoire et infrastructure dans Land, Water, Concrete ; et les effets visibles des déplacements coloniaux et économiques dans Puerto Rico: The Story the Land Tells.
Dans Spectral Evidence, ces questions se déplacent vers l’image photographique elle-même. Plutôt que de se concentrer sur le paysage ou l’espace bâti, le travail s’attache à la manière dont la violence, le conflit et les résidus historiques s’inscrivent dans l’image. Les distorsions réfléchies et les surfaces endommagées apparaissent non comme des représentations d’événements passés, mais comme des retours — des histoires qui continuent de peser sur le présent.
Το έργο μου διερευνά τον τρόπο με τον οποίο το τοπίο και η φωτογραφική εικόνα διατηρούν ίχνη της ιστορίας. Εστιάζω σε βιομηχανικούς χώρους, ημιτελείς κατασκευές, σημαδεμένα εδάφη και αρχιτεκτονικές μορφές που έχουν διαμορφωθεί από ρήξη και εγκατάλειψη.
Σε διαφορετικές ενότητες, αυτές οι αναζητήσεις παίρνουν συγκεκριμένες μορφές: οι ταξικές ιεραρχίες που εγγράφονται σε σκάλες και σημεία πρόσβασης στο Stairways / Escaliers· το λυκόφως της αμερικανικής βιομηχανίας στο American Night· η αλλοτρίωση της εργασίας στο Lost Grounds· η ένταση ανάμεσα στη γη και τις υποδομές στο Land, Water, Concrete· και οι ορατές συνέπειες της αποικιακής και οικονομικής εκτόπισης στο Puerto Rico: The Story the Land Tells.
Στο Spectral Evidence, τα ερωτήματα αυτά στρέφονται προς την ίδια τη φωτογραφική εικόνα. Αντί να επικεντρώνεται στο τοπίο ή στον δομημένο χώρο, το έργο εξετάζει τον τρόπο με τον οποίο η βία, η σύγκρουση και τα ιστορικά κατάλοιπα εγγράφονται μέσα στην εικόνα. Οι αντανακλάσεις και οι φθαρμένες επιφάνειες δεν εμφανίζονται ως αναπαραστάσεις παρελθόντων γεγονότων, αλλά ως επιστροφές — ως ιστορίες που συνεχίζουν να ασκούν πίεση στο παρόν.
